“Beauty, the world seemed to say. And as if to prove it (scientifically) wherever he looked at the houses, at the railings, at the antelopes stretching over the palings, beauty sprang instantly. To watch a leaf quivering in the rush of air was an exquisite joy. Up in the sky swallows swooping, swerving, flinging themselves in and out, round and round, yet always with perfect control as if elastics held them; and the flies rising and falling; and the sun spotting now this leaf, now that, in mockery, dazzling it with soft gold in pure good temper; and now again some chime (it might be a motor horn) tinkling divinely on the grass stalks—all of this, calm and reasonable as it was, made out of ordinary things as it was, was the truth now; beauty, that was the truth now. Beauty was everywhere.”

KABUL, Afghanistan — War is an ageless poetic wellspring, yielding wrenching odes to the white heat of combat, the longing for lost loved ones, the dust of graveyards. Now a controversial new anthology unveils a collection of seldom-heard voices: those of Taliban fighters.
‘Poetry of the Taliban’ elicits both anger, astonishment (via anobium)What do you think?

Here’s the deal…
I know I have only one follower, who, even, may not see this—who, probably, does not care—so, then, I am writing this mostly for myself:
I have only ever made four posts, two of which were self-reflexive and substance-less, as far as I’m aware (sorry, three). I am, frankly, a tumblr novice, unaware even of what most people are using it for (excessively inside and incestuous jokes, from what I’ve gleaned).
That said, I am proclaiming here, loud and clear, a promise: I, Cameron Martin, will herein commit to post to this blog with greater frequency and quality, paying special attention to the latter, always keeping in mind an intelligent, interested reader. Because, as I’m remembering, I am an interested person, interested in things I wish to share with the world.
I hope tumblrs are OK with that.
